Sacramento Family Law, Divorce, and Adoption Lawyers

Family LawFamily law encompasses the role of the family and the intimate relationships within the family. Until recent generations, the family has remained a private institution with a minimal amount of interference from state and federal government. Sadly, this is changing as more and more families become entangled in disputes.

Divorce

For over thirty years, the Law Offices of Hugh O. Allen have been helping families in and around the Sacramento, California area sort through the many legal questions that arise in cases of divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, division of property, spousal support, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO), and post-judgment orders.

Guardianships - These are set up because a child is living with an adult who is not a parent but needs to have full legal and physical custody of a child. A guardian can also be given the authority to manage a child's income, money and property until they turn 18. Sometimes children need to be protected from their own parents. Our lawyers are experienced in seeking grandparent custody in cases where the children are abused or neglected by drug-using parents.

Conservatorships - A conservator of the person cares for and protects a person when the judge decides that the person can no longer care for themselves or properly manage their finances. A conservator of the estate handles the conservatee's financial matters - like paying bills and collecting a person's income - if the judge decides the conservatee cannot do it.

Adoption - our knowledgeable, experienced adoption attorneys can help explain, simplify, and organize the adoption process and outline your options. We can clarify the relevant adoption laws and regulations in the state of California.

No matter how complicated your family situation, we can help you manage your legal affairs. At the Law Offices of Hugh O. Allen, we have guided families through these emotional trials with understanding and compassion.
